The MASTER International Public Association of Artists and Art Critics was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus on 7 April 2000 and is a non-governmental organization. Their mission is to establish a dialogue between artists and art critics around the globe. Their hope is for mutual understanding and inter-influence of the world cultures.
To do this they organize and hold national and international expositions, symposiums, and other activities and, encourage new creative talents. They also publish the MASTER journal to highlight current issues in the fine arts community.
Thus far the organization has organized 24 art exhibitions both home and abroad including
three international art festivals.
ArtDaily is an online art magazine, or, as they put it, the first art newspaper. It has the feel of ArtNews, but with a more international scope, and with fun features like puzzles and quizzes. They launched the site in 1996, and found from their Dallas based web host, that they had 69,000 hits on the first day. Since then they have had continued success. This makes sense, as an arts publication it is very well done.
You can subscribe to the paper for free, or, if you want to spare your mailbox from too much to deal with everyday, you can visit the site to see waht’s been going in visual art around the globe.
Axis is a UK based website that seeks to be a n online resource for contempory art of the highest quality. Many art websites are made by artists working together to promote their art, or offer any artist free or paid space, and these are very grass roots by nature. Others are vehicles of the art establishment in some way, which can mean that an individual artist has no way to participate in a meaningful way. Axis is an impressive effort to balance both parts of the fine arts community.
They have four parts to the site:
Directory - Their directory of artists and curators features over 2500 profiles with images, audio, video, biographies, statements and an events listing. All artists and curators are selected to reflect the quality and diversity of art produced today. This is a searchable index, to help artists and curators find people who can collaborate with them.
Selected - This section profiles Key artists and exploring contemporary art. Axis commissions influential artists, curators and writers to select and write about key artists and projects.
Dialogue - This third part of the site includes an online journal which features interviews, essays, articles and commissioned new writing by leading and emerging writers.
Members - Anyone who is interested in art can join to participate in discussions and learn about contemporary art. Artists and curators can apply to have a profile of their work online.
